One person, one pass, no crowding at the entrance.

Turnstiles and waist-high barriers on the pedestrian entrance, linked to your access control reader — only someone with permission gets through.

When this makes sense

  • A large number of people pass through the pedestrian entrance and you need to stop two people slipping through on one card.
  • The site already has access control and needs a physical barrier, not just an electric lock on a door.
  • Reception or security want a clear line where the pass stops until identification is confirmed.
  • The space in front of the entrance allows a barrier without blocking evacuation routes.

When it doesn't

  • Few people pass through the entrance, and a door-mounted reader is enough on its own.
  • The space is narrow or doubles as an evacuation route — a barrier would be an obstacle there, not a solution.
  • The site needs controlled vehicle access, not pedestrians — that's a job for a boom barrier, not a turnstile.

How it works

    Type of passage

    We choose a waist-high turnstile or a full-height unit based on entrance width and peak headcount.

  2. 02

    Link to the reader

    The barrier connects to the same card, fingerprint or NFC reader already used by access control.

  3. 03

    One pass per identification

    The mechanism unlocks for exactly one pass and relocks, regardless of whether someone tries to follow through behind another person.

  4. 04

    Evacuation rule

    On a fire alarm, the barrier unlocks freely in the direction of exit.

  5. 05

    Access log

    Every pass is logged together with the access control data, as part of the same database.

Questions

Can two people pass on one card?

The mechanism unlocks for exactly one pass; a second attempt without a new identification stays locked.

What happens to the barrier if there's a fire?

It unlocks freely in the direction of exit as soon as the fire signal arrives, so evacuation takes priority over control.

Does the barrier work with existing access control readers?

Yes, it uses the same identification and the same user database — no separate system is needed for the barrier.

What's the throughput at peak load?

It depends on the type, but a waist-high turnstile typically handles around thirty passes a minute with normal identification.
